Love Does

Bob Goff's 2012 collection of Christian essays ties stories from his own life to lessons about faith. In college he spent 16 days on the Pacific with five companions and a crate of canned meat; later he took his children around the world to share ice cream with heads of state; friendships in Uganda led to his becoming its consul. With grades too low for law school, he waited seven days on a bench by the dean's office until he was let in. Each chapter is a story, and the thread through them is a love that acts rather than stopping at thoughts and feelings. It later became a New York Times best seller.
