About the book
Frederic Laloux argues that each time humanity has moved to a new stage of consciousness, it has also invented a new way to structure and run organizations. He gives five stages a colour each, Red, Amber, Orange, Green and Teal, and describes the management structures each one produced, such as meritocracy and replicable processes. His research covered more than fifty organisations, among them Buurtzorg Nederland and The Morning Star Company, each with at least a hundred staff and five years of operation. The Teal model rests on three pillars: self-management, wholeness and evolutionary purpose. Laloux frames it as an answer to disengaged employees, bureaucracy and power games at the top.
Meebo co-founder Elaine Wherry called it one of the few recent books on organizational theory that is thorough and free of self-promotion. Adore Me CTO Bogdan Lucaciu said several people he admired pointed him to it at once, and that it matched his own unconventional views on organisation design.

First, a word on career paths. In time, I realised that career paths are like one-way streets. Magic happens in unexplored territories. Plus life is how you choose to live every moment, every day. So today, rather than building a career, I prefer to make lateral moves in life, working with great people and being part of ambitious projects impacting the world. There are a few books that got me here: [...] Frederic Laloux "Reinventing Organizations".
Elaine Wherry (Co-founder/Meebo)
It's one of the few organizational theory books written in the last few years that is thorough, though-provoking and not self-promoting.
Bogdan Lucaciu (CTO/Adore Me)
Completely unrelated people told me about it at the same time, for different reasons. People that I really looked up to. Quite serendipitous. It was almost spooky reading it, I didn't expect such a highly regarded book to be so close to my unconventional beliefs about organisation design.
