Letters J L Collins wrote to his teenage daughter about money and investing, along with posts from his blog, became the basis of this guide to financial independence. His daughter knew money mattered but did not want to spend her life thinking about it, so he set out a method that is easy to grasp and apply. Collins argues that complex investments exist to profit the people who create and sell them, costing investors more while working less well. Drawing on fifty years of investing, he covers paying off debt, retirement accounts, the phases of building and preserving wealth, and a plain approach to asset allocation. The book has become a foundational text of the FIRE movement.
