About the book
Music producer Rick Rubin set out to write about how to make a great work of art and, by his own account, ended up with a book about how to be. Rubin is known less for a signature sound than for creating a space where artists from many genres and traditions can find out who they are and what they offer, and for helping them move past expectations they have set for themselves. He argues that being an artist depends on a relationship to the world more than on any specific output, and that everyone has room for creativity in life. It became a number one New York Times best seller.
It is on the list for David Senra's Founders Podcast episode #409, The Creative Genius of Rick Rubin.
