The Education of Millionaires

Michael Ellsberg, who interviewed a wide range of millionaires and billionaires without college degrees, argues that most of what success requires has to be learned outside school. His subjects include fashion magnate Russell Simmons and Sean Parker, the founding president of Facebook. He contends that none of the people he studied picked up their most important skills in higher education. From their experience he draws practical lessons: finding great mentors, building a first-rate network, making work meaningful and building a personal brand. Ellsberg presents these skills as a needed addition to any education, whether a reader dropped out of high school or graduated from Harvard Law School.
