About the book

Tony Robbins, the American writer and motivational speaker, set out what he calls the science of personal achievement in his first self-help book. He claims that harnessing the mind lets people master their personal and professional lives, and he teaches how to work out what one really wants and how to retrain thinking quickly to get rid of fears and phobias. He also covers the Seven Lies of Success, building instant rapport with anyone, copying the success of others, and the Five Keys to Wealth and Happiness. Robbins frames the program as fitness for the mind, aimed at peak performance, self-confidence and leadership. A later version written with Joseph McClendon III was adapted for African American readers.

The Smart Local founding director Bryan Choo read it as a teenager and says its section on meta-programs, the patterns people use to perceive the world, helped him understand himself and others. Artimization co-founder Haris Siddique credits it with improving his inner dialogue and giving him the courage to start his own business.

First, a word on career paths. In time, I realised that career paths are like one-way streets. Magic happens in unexplored territories. Plus life is how you choose to live every moment, every day. So today, rather than building a career, I prefer to make lateral moves in life, working with great people and being part of ambitious projects impacting the world. There are a few books that got me here: [...] Tony Robbins "Unlimited Power: The New Science of Personal Achievement".

Haris Siddique (Co-Founder/Artimization)

This book taught me to heal, create a better Inner Mind Conversation, communicate better with others and unleashed my real power. Finally, I felt courageous enough to bear the risks and challenges of starting my own business.

Bryan Choo (Founding Director/The Smart Local)

I read Anthony Robbins' Unlimited Power when I was a teenager. My favourite section was the meta-programs which people use to perceive the world. It helped me understand myself and people better.

For example, some people are matchers, others are mismatchers. It's not good to be an extreme of either and I was an extreme mismatcher disagreeing with people all the time just because my brain was wired to spot differences first rather than sameness.

So I fixed that aspect and stopped unnecessarily breaking rapport with people.
