On the eve of an Ouster invasion, seven pilgrims set out for the Time Tombs on the remote planet Hyperion, structures that move backward in time and are guarded by a legendary creature called the Shrike. Dan Simmons sets the 1989 novel in a future where the Hegemony of Man links hundreds of planets through farcaster portals and is uneasily allied with the TechnoCore, an AI civilization. Each pilgrim carries a secret and agrees to share how they came to be selected for the pilgrimage. The framing narrative uses a structure similar to Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales. It opens the Hyperion Cantos, continues in The Fall of Hyperion, and won the Hugo Award for best novel.

Here's the non-business one that I'm reading as well. It's a science fiction book by Dan Simmons - Hyperion. It's a pleasure reading, so no expected gains from this one :)

Amazing, complex stories, which trigger a lot of thoughts and new ideas. I think what people miss sometimes is how many similar values and ideas these book series communicate.
